KOLKATA, 27th October 2026: On the occasion of United Nations Day, Pragyan Foundation organised a series of special programmes at Pragyan Bhawan, Kolkata, dedicated to promoting world peace, holistic well-being, self-discovery, human values and universal brotherhood. The celebrations brought together distinguished guests, well-wishers and participants through four meaningful initiatives: World Peace Meditation, Pledge for Inner Peace, a workshop on "Discovering Your Purpose in Life", and a Book Distribution Programme on Magnetic Healing.
The programmes were led by Yogacharya Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, President of Pragyan Foundation, an eminent educationist, international researcher, holistic health consultant, author, meditation teacher and Reiki Grand Master, with over three decades of experience in Homoeopathy, Yoga, Meditation, Naturopathy, Lifestyle Medicine and holistic wellness.
A special World Peace Meditation Programme was conducted by Dr. Agarwal, who also served as the Key Speaker. Through a guided meditation session, participants were encouraged to cultivate peace within themselves and extend compassion, positivity and harmony to their families, communities and society.
Dr. Agarwal emphasised that "World Peace Begins with Inner Peace." He explained that individual mindfulness, compassion, tolerance and mutual understanding are essential foundations for building a peaceful and harmonious society. He encouraged everyone to become ambassadors of peace by incorporating kindness, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence into their everyday lives.
Another significant highlight was the special "Pledge for Inner Peace", through which participants made a conscious commitment to promote peace through their thoughts, words and actions.
Dr. Agarwal highlighted that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but a state of inner balance, understanding, compassion and mutual respect. Participants were encouraged to overcome anger and hatred, respect human dignity, appreciate diversity, resolve differences through dialogue and promote kindness and tolerance in their daily lives.
As a special recognition of their participation and commitment to the cause of peace, Certificates for World Peace were presented to all participants. The certificates symbolised their shared responsibility to nurture peace within themselves and extend it to their families, communities and the wider world.
The initiative reflected the values of the United Nations, particularly the promotion of peace, human dignity, mutual understanding and global unity, and was aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
The celebrations also featured an insightful and interactive workshop on "Discovering Your Purpose in Life", The workshop explored the importance of identifying one's purpose and aligning personal values, daily actions and long-term aspirations with a meaningful vision. Dr. Agarwal explained that a purposeful life is not limited to material success or personal achievements; it also involves maintaining good health, cultivating inner happiness, nurturing relationships, serving society and contributing to the greater good of humanity.
Sharing an interesting perspective on individuality, Dr. Agarwal observed that just as every individual has a unique thumbprint, every human being possesses distinct abilities, strengths, talents and potential. Since no two individuals are exactly alike, everyone has a unique purpose and contribution to make in life.
He encouraged participants to recognise their individuality, discover their inner potential, avoid comparing themselves with others and lead lives guided by their own strengths, values and aspirations.
As part of the United Nations Day celebrations, Pragyan Foundation also organised a special Book Distribution Programme on Magnetic Healing to encourage awareness and knowledge-sharing in the field of complementary healing and holistic wellness.
Books on Magnetic Healing were distributed among participants to familiarise them with the principles and practices of this complementary approach and provide access to educational resources on health, wellness and self-care.
Dr. Agarwal highlighted the importance of health education, positive living and a holistic approach towards physical, mental and emotional well-being. He emphasised that informed awareness and responsible health practices can empower individuals to take a more active role in their overall wellness.
The initiative reflected Pragyan Foundation's continuing commitment to promoting Yoga, Meditation, Lifestyle Medicine and Body-Mind-Soul Wellness, contributing towards the broader vision of UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being.
