Chennai, India | November 1, 2026 Desiya Suraksha Party (DSP), a new political party emerging from Tamil Nadu, has announced its national mission to fight for citizens’ rights, strengthen public safety and work towards equality and a minimum standard of living for every Indian.
In a significant milestone, the party’s flag was officially unveiled in Chennai by former National Security Advisor Shri M.K. Narayanan IPS (Retd.), alongside DSP National President Shri Mangan Thomas Rijoy (MTR).
Founded on the belief that safety must extend beyond physical security to include food, shelter, healthcare, education and dignity, DSP aims to bring governance closer to the people and raise questions concerning the equitable distribution of national resources.
“I came to India not for politics, but to bring back a culture — the culture of safety, especially for our women and children,” said Mangan Thomas Rijoy (MTR), President of Desiya Suraksha Party.
From Secure Our City to a National Movement
Five years ago, DSP’s journey began with a simple but powerful question: Why should a woman feel unsafe in her own street?
That question led to the launch of the “Secure Our City” campaign, an initiative focused on improving neighbourhood safety through free CCTV installations and community engagement.
With no NGO backing, corporate funding or political support, the initiative began in Chennai using the founders’ own resources, with an initial pledge to provide 10,000 free CCTV cameras across selected cities in India.
Over the past five years, the campaign has worked in Chennai’s underserved communities, with the party stating that it has helped secure approximately 5,000 homes in slum areas through its efforts.
The original vision was to establish a successful safety model through Secure Our City and expand it nationally through SecureCam India and CSR partnerships.
However, years of working closely with vulnerable communities revealed a deeper challenge.
“When you live in the slums for five years, you understand that CCTV is not enough. I travelled, slept and ate with people. I saw families struggling without proper housing, food, clothing and medical care. A camera cannot secure a hungry stomach. A camera cannot secure a homeless family,” MTR said.
He added that these experiences convinced him that lasting change requires not only community initiatives but also systemic reform through governance.
“That is when I understood what our country truly needs. And I found the solution — Desiya Suraksha Party.”
A Political Platform to Ask Questions on Behalf of Citizens
DSP states that its purpose is not merely to seek political power, but to create a platform that holds institutions accountable and represents the concerns of ordinary Indians.
The party intends to raise critical questions, including:
- To the Government: Is the tax paid by the common citizen reaching the right hands and being used for public welfare?
- To Corporate India: How can greater transparency and accountability ensure that national wealth and tax revenues benefit the people?
- To the System: Why do children continue to grow up without families, homes and adequate support in a country that values family and community?
DSP believes that governance must be measured not only by economic growth, but also by the quality of life experienced by its citizens.
DSP’s Core Agenda: A Guarantee of Living
The party has outlined a people-centric agenda focused on five key commitments:
1. Housing for Every Indian Family
Work towards ensuring every family has access to a minimum 500-square-foot home of its own.
2. Dignity for Every Citizen
Promote access to quality clothing and essential necessities so that no individual is deprived of basic human dignity.
3. Free, Quality Education and Healthcare
Advocate for free education and healthcare of international standards, accessible to every citizen.
4. No More Orphans in India
Ensure every child has a family, a home and a future. Where no family or guardian is available, the State must assume responsibility for the child’s care and protection.
5. Safety as a Fundamental Right
Make the safety and security of women and children a fundamental priority of governance, rather than merely another welfare scheme.
DSP also proposes a minimum living guarantee, including a target of ₹6,000 per person per month and ₹10,000 per family per month, as outlined in its manifesto.
The party says these proposals are intended to establish a basic standard of dignity and provide a foundation for broader social welfare reforms.
Reaching the People Through Accountable Governance
DSP believes India’s natural resources, land, minerals, forests, gold and other assets must be transparently accounted for and managed in a manner that benefits citizens.
The party has put forward its view that India’s national wealth should translate into improved living standards, stronger public services and greater economic security for families.
Its manifesto also proposes reforms aimed at strengthening public administration, improving access to government services and ensuring that citizens’ concerns receive timely attention.
The party’s broader vision is to make governance more accessible, responsive and accountable — bringing government services closer to every household.
Beginning in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, with a National Vision
DSP is beginning its organisational journey in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the regions where its founding mission took shape.
MTR has invited citizens, social workers, youth, professionals and all those who believe in safety, equality and dignity to join the movement.
“We secured 5,000 houses with our own money. Now, let us work together to secure 150 crore lives. Safety is not just about cameras. It is about food, housing, health, education and dignity for every Indian,” he said.
Secure Our City Campaign to Continue Nationwide
DSP has confirmed that the Secure Our City campaign will continue alongside its political journey.
Following the party’s First Maanadu on December 10, 2026, in Chennai, DSP plans to expand the campaign across India.
The proposed initiative aims to provide a minimum security guarantee for homes and buildings through structured security audits and community-based safety measures.
The party maintains that its original commitment to public safety will remain central to its national mission.
DSP First Maanadu — December 10, 2026
Desiya Suraksha Party will hold its First Maanadu on December 10, 2026, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, marking a major milestone in its journey towards building a national movement for citizens’ rights and welfare.
