For some musicians, the journey begins with the ambition to become a singer. For Vaibhav Santosh Naik, it began with the urge to create a song of his own.
The Maharashtra-based singer, composer and lyricist has gradually built an independent body of work that moves across languages, moods and musical traditions. From Marathi romantic songs and Hindi releases to devotional music rooted in regional culture, his catalogue reflects an artist who prefers not to be defined by a single genre.
What makes his story particularly personal is that singing is only one part of his relationship with music. Vaibhav frequently works on the words and composition behind his songs as well, allowing him to carry an idea from its earliest form to the recording studio.
It Started With a Song
Vaibhav began experimenting with original music while he was still young. In 2014, he created “Tu Meri Thi Main Tera,” an early project that marked the beginning of his experience with songwriting and composition.
At the time, it was simply the work of a young musician learning how to turn an idea into a complete song. In retrospect, it became the starting point of a catalogue that would continue to develop over the following years.
Instead of arriving through a single breakthrough moment, Vaibhav’s career has taken shape gradually — through individual releases, collaborations and the experience gained from creating music independently.
Finding His Place in Marathi Music
One of the important releases in that journey was “Rusu Nako Na,” a Marathi romantic song performed by Vaibhav alongside singer Ritika Sapkale.
For the project, Vaibhav contributed as a singer, composer and lyricist, bringing together three roles that would become increasingly associated with his work.
The song crossed 200,000 views on YouTube and was also telecast on Marathi Maayboli. More importantly for Vaibhav’s artistic journey, it established a visible connection between his voice and his work as a songwriter and composer.
Marathi music has continued to occupy an important place in his catalogue, particularly through songs inspired by devotion, festivals and regional traditions.
Romance, Devotion and Everything in Between
A look through Vaibhav’s releases reveals a catalogue that does not follow one fixed template.
There is the emotional territory of “Bewafa,” the Marathi devotional character of songs such as “Bappa Morya,” “Aai Tisai Mauli” and “Aaichi Najar Bhaktanvari,” and the spiritual themes explored through “Nandato Majha Shrihari” and “Shankara O Shankara.”
His work has also moved beyond Marathi and Hindi. “Jai Chhathi Maiya” took him into Bhojpuri devotional music, reflecting his interest in creating for listeners and traditions beyond his immediate linguistic space.
Then there are songs such as “Meri Pyari Behna,” which approach relationships from a different perspective. Rather than romantic love, the song centres on the bond between a brother and sister, showing another side of the subjects he chooses to write about.
Taken together, these releases make it difficult to place Vaibhav’s music inside one category — and that appears to be part of the point.
The Singer Is Also the Songwriter
Behind many of these releases is a process that begins before Vaibhav enters the recording booth.
An idea can start with words, a melody or an emotion. From there, lyrics and composition begin taking shape before the song moves towards arrangement, production and recording.
Working as both a performer and creator gives Vaibhav a close relationship with the material he eventually sings. Instead of receiving every song as a finished composition, he is often part of building it from the beginning.
Collaboration remains an important part of that process. Music producer Siddharth Landge has worked with Vaibhav across multiple projects, while different releases have brought singers, musicians and other creative collaborators into his work.
It is a combination of individual songwriting and collaborative production that continues to shape his recordings.
Building a Catalogue, One Release at a Time
Independent music careers rarely develop in a straight line.
For Vaibhav, the years since his earliest experiments with songwriting have involved moving between languages and subjects while continuing to learn through each release.
That evolution can now be traced through a catalogue spanning romantic music, devotional songs, family-oriented themes and regional releases.
His music is available across digital platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn and Amazon Music, where listeners can find different stages of that journey.
But perhaps the clearest way to understand Vaibhav Santosh Naik is not through any one song.
It is through the fact that he continues to write the next one.
As a singer, composer and lyricist, his growing catalogue represents an artist still developing his sound while remaining connected to the element that started the journey in the first place — the desire to turn an idea into music.
