The regular registration window for GATE 2027 is closing today, October 5, 2026. Candidates who are eligible and have not yet submitted their application can complete the registration process by the end of the regular application period to avoid the additional late fee.
The examination is being organised by IIT Madras, which has extended the regular registration deadline following requests from applicants. Candidates who miss the regular deadline will still have an opportunity to submit their forms during the extended registration period, but an additional charge will apply.
GATE 2027 Registration Deadline and Late Fee
The extended application window will remain open until October 12, 2026. Candidates registering during this period will have to pay an additional ₹500 per paper as a late fee.
Applications can be submitted through the GATE 2027 registration portal. Candidates have also been advised to carefully check the information entered in the form and ensure that their details correspond with their official documents before submitting the application.
The organising institute has specifically asked applicants to verify their eligibility before completing the registration process. This is important because candidates are responsible for meeting the prescribed requirements for the examination.
GATE 2027 Exam Dates
The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted on six dates in February. According to the announced schedule, the exams are planned for February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.
Candidates will receive information about their allotted examination city on January 4, 2027, according to the current schedule. The result is scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2027.
With the registration deadline approaching, candidates should ensure that their application is complete and that all required information has been entered correctly. Any mismatch between the application details and official documents could create problems during subsequent stages of the examination process.
Who Can Benefit From GATE Score?
GATE is a national-level examination that assesses candidates' understanding of subjects studied at the undergraduate level across areas including Engineering, Technology, Science, Commerce, Arts, Architecture and Humanities.
A valid GATE score can be used for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The score is also considered by several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment, depending on their individual eligibility requirements and recruitment policies.
Candidates Should Check Details Before Submission
Applicants who are yet to complete their GATE 2027 application should review the form carefully before final submission. Personal information, academic details and other entries should be checked against the relevant official documents.
Those who are unable to register during the regular window can still apply until October 12, but they will have to bear the additional ₹500-per-paper late charge. The examination schedule remains unchanged, with the first GATE 2027 papers scheduled for February 6, 2027.
