JEE Main 2027: NTA Allows Fresh Applications to Fix Registration Errors, Announces Key Conditions

Candidates appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027 Session 1 who have made mistakes in their application forms have been given another opportunity to submit their details correctly. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has permitted applicants to submit a fresh online application, even if they have already generated an application number or paid the examination fee.
The decision follows requests from candidates who reported errors in their submitted forms. The agency has issued specific conditions to explain how fresh applications will be treated and how candidates should avoid problems during the examination process.
JEE Main 2027: Important Rules for Fresh Applications
Under the revised instructions, candidates can submit a new application form for Session 1. A fresh submission will generate a new application number, and applicants will have to enter their information again.
They must also upload the required documents, including their photograph and signature, rather than assuming that details from the earlier application will automatically carry over.
NTA has clarified that only the latest application for which the examination fee has been successfully paid and a confirmation page has been generated will be treated as valid. If a candidate submits a new form but does not complete the payment process or generate its confirmation page, the earlier application that fulfilled both requirements will remain valid.
Application Deadline and Late Fee Schedule
Candidates planning to submit a fresh application should carefully follow the revised timeline.
- Regular application deadline: November 22, 2026, up to 11:50 PM.
- Late-fee application period: November 23 to November 26, 2026, up to 11:50 PM.
The application process, including the required fee payment, must be completed within the applicable period. Candidates should avoid waiting until the final hours to submit their forms.
Previously Paid Fees Will Not Be Adjusted
One important condition concerns candidates who have already paid the examination fee for their earlier application.
NTA has clarified that the amount paid against the previous registration will neither be refunded nor adjusted against the fresh application. Therefore, candidates considering a completely new submission should take the financial implications into account before proceeding.
Applicants who only need to modify specific details may prefer to wait for the correction facility rather than submit an entirely new application.
Correction Window Scheduled for November 27–29
For candidates who need to make limited changes to their existing forms, NTA has scheduled the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 correction window from November 27 to November 29, 2026.
The correction facility is intended for eligible changes in submitted application details. Not every field may be available for modification, so candidates should follow the instructions displayed on the official portal.
Using the correction window may be more suitable for applicants who do not need to replace their entire registration.
Warning Against Appearing With Multiple Application Numbers
NTA has also issued a clear warning regarding multiple registrations. Submitting more than one application form does not give a candidate permission to appear for the examination multiple times in the same session.
Candidates who appear or attempt to appear using more than one application number will be treated as having used unfair means (UFM), and action may be taken under the provisions of the examination's Information Bulletin.
However, the agency has clarified that simply possessing more than one application number, without attempting to appear through multiple numbers, will not by itself be considered unfair means.
Where Candidates Can Get Assistance
Applicants requiring clarification can contact the NTA help desk at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700. They can also send their queries to jeemain@nta.ac.in.
Candidates should carefully review the official instructions before submitting a fresh application or making corrections. Checking the final application details and retaining the confirmation page can help avoid registration-related complications ahead of JEE Main 2027 Session 1.
