Flipkart is preparing for the 13th edition of its flagship festive shopping event, with The Big Billion Days 2026 scheduled to open to general customers on October 9. Selected customers will receive early access from October 8, giving them a head start on festive purchases across categories.
This year's sale is set to operate at a larger scale, with the company highlighting record seller participation, an expanded product selection and significant investments in fulfilment and delivery infrastructure.
Early access begins October 8
The main sale will start on October 9, while early access will begin a day earlier for eligible Flipkart Plus and BLACK members as well as customers using eligible Flipkart credit cards.
The event is expected to cover major shopping categories including smartphones, electronics, fashion, beauty products, home appliances, everyday essentials and festive gifting.
150 million products expected on the platform
Flipkart says this year's event will feature around 150 million products from brands and sellers across different categories. The selection includes everyday goods as well as premium electronics, fashion, appliances and other high-value purchases.
The company is also reporting its highest-ever number of participating sellers for the event. According to Flipkart, the number of transacting sellers is expected to be more than 60% higher than last year, while the available selection has doubled.
MSMEs and small sellers get a bigger role
Small businesses, artisans, weavers and other sellers are also expected to form a significant part of this year's festive marketplace.
More than 2.5 crore products from MSMEs, small sellers, artisans and weavers have been positioned in fulfilment centres ahead of the sale, according to the company. The move is intended to improve availability and speed up festive deliveries while giving smaller businesses access to Flipkart's large customer base.
Delivery network expanded ahead of festive demand
Flipkart has increased its logistics capacity ahead of the expected surge in orders. The company says it has added 14 million cubic feet of warehousing space, representing a 50% increase in storage capacity.
More than 900 new delivery hubs and over 750 additional PIN codes have also been added to the network. The expansion includes locations such as Leh and Kargil, along with communities in the Northeast.
The broader network now spans more than 8,200 fulfilment and delivery facilities, according to Flipkart.
Flipkart Minutes expands festive selection
Quick-commerce service Flipkart Minutes is also being integrated more deeply into the festive shopping push. The service now operates across more than 150 cities and over 9,000 PIN codes.
For the Big Billion Days period, Flipkart Minutes is expected to offer more than 77,000 products across 1,400-plus categories, ranging from daily essentials to electronics, fashion and last-minute gifting.
AI takes a bigger role in shopping
Artificial intelligence is another major component of the 2026 event. Flipkart says shoppers will be able to use text, voice and images to discover products, while personalised recommendations will be generated through AI-based systems.
The company is also using AI in seller tools and logistics, including catalogue-content creation, geocoding and last-mile delivery management.
Festive sale also creates temporary employment
The scale-up ahead of the festive season is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities. Flipkart has said that more than 2.5 lakh direct and indirect festive-season jobs have been created, including nearly 75,000 opportunities for people entering the formal workforce for the first time.
What shoppers can expect
With the sale beginning on October 9, customers are likely to see offers across smartphones, laptops, televisions, appliances, fashion, beauty and other major categories. Discounts may be combined with bank promotions, exchange benefits, EMI options and other sale-specific offers, depending on individual products and terms.
The 2026 edition therefore represents more than another festive discount event. With a larger seller ecosystem, expanded logistics infrastructure, quick-commerce integration and increased use of AI, Flipkart is positioning this year's Big Billion Days as one of its biggest festive operations to date.
